Out in Los Angeles, California

I was so excited that I was offered a job in Woodland Hills, California and on the way there I wondered about whether or not I would meet someone that would accept me unconditionally as a transgendered female. When I reported in at Pratt & Whitney for work, I met with Mary Smith who was the President of the Rainbow Alliance where she informed me that I was one of three transgender females. I couldn't wait to meet the both of them.

I met with Glenda and Debi who instantly became dear friends. As I got settled in, Debi and her partner Annie and their friend TomKat took me all over the Los Angeles meeting others within the community at the various bars and restaurants.

I loved being in California working and meeting new friends and getting to know others as well. When Marlene relocated to California, Debi and the others made Marlene feel loved and welcomed. I still have fond memories of our time in California.

While living in California, we attended a wonderful church, Church of the Valley. The Ladies Group had an annual Tea Party and we were thrilled to participate. We were in charge of decorating our table with our own dishes and tablecoths and the food was great. Laura Hall entertained us with her beautiful music, we won several items in the auction, and the friendship was awesome.

One of the things Marlene and I miss is our patio. We had decorated it with lots of plants and you could see the mountains in the distance. Marlene took some pictures of me on this patio.

Jeffrey was quite a character! He came to our home twice a month to give Marlene a full body massage and we joked around quite a lot. Very few people got to hold Lucky and Jeffrey was one of Lucky's favorite people.
